Greg Finishes 2nd in Age Group, Qualifies for Kona in Ironman Lake Tahoe

With the air temperature below freezing the Greg entered the waters of Lake Tahoe with over 2,000 other athletes. Below he exits the water with a swim time of 1:05:41 as steam is coming off the water.


Greg got on his Scott Foil 20 from Bike Improve which had ice on the seat and top tube which formed during the swim leg. His road bike helped him maneuver the course that climbed 7,000 feet and had a high elevation point of 7,179 feet at Brockway Summit. Greg finished the bike course in 5:49:13 moving from 223rd place to 59th place.


In his first marathon ever, Greg was able to maintain sub 8 minute miles for a majority of the run, finishing the run in a time of 3:17:23. Greg’s overall time was 10:23:32.

Greg finished 2nd in his age group of 25-29 and earned a spot at the Ironman world championships in Kona, Hawaii! He was 32nd overall and only the 7th amateur athlete to cross the finish line!

UCLA Triathlon Podiums at Nautica Malibu International Triathlon


On the weekend of September 7th and 8th, six UCLA Triathlon athletes raced against world class athletes including the likes of Ironman champion Chris McCormack and a slew of other southern California professional/elite athletes. Dylan Bridges-Oliva and Mohammad Charara took 1st and 2nd respectively in the 18-24 age-group and took 5th and 6th overall following the likes of Chris McCormack and age-group national champion Mark Tripp.


Courtney DiNicola had a break through race placing 1st and Hunter Connell took 5th in the female 18-24.


Liz Noey, one of our top female athletes raced the pro field and secured 1st place.







2nd Overall at Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage!

UCLA Triathlon traveled to Washington to compete in a 12 person, 196 mile relay. Needless to say we did a great job, and our team, #Kelly (named after our fearless captain) took 2nd place out of 400 teams.  Click here for the full results.
